3rd Grade Plimoth Patuxet Trip
Our annual and highly anticipated 3rd Grade Plimoth Patuxet (formerly Plimoth Plantation) field trip was a great success! Students have been studying the Wampanoag people and colonial life in class, and this visit gave them the chance to immerse themselves in 17th-century New England. Through hands-on exploration and conversations with historical interpreters, history truly came alive for our students!
MSBA Accelerated Repair Project Update
Last week, representatives from GDRSD and our School Committee attended the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) meeting, where Swallow Union was formally invited to enter the next phase of the Accelerated Repair Project (ARP) as a School of Interest for our roof replacement.
Our current building was constructed in 1962, with the gym addition completed in 1995—making this repair both necessary and timely. Each day, particularly after heavy rain, we manage the ongoing impact of water damage within our learning spaces.
With over 45 districts and 93 projects under review, we are both pleased and proud to have been selected to move forward to the feasibility study phase. This is an exciting step toward ensuring a safer, more sustainable learning environment for our students and staff.
